JFL HOMEPAGE

OTHER PAINTINGS
JFL is a contemporary art lover. This web site has been designed to let you embark on a journey into his vast and unique universe and to make you discover the creative process behind his paintings.
Born into an artistically inclined family, JFL has been initiated into painting in his earliest childhood by his father and grandfather. He grows up surrounded by colours and materials. In his teenagehood, he spends hours admiring paintings of old masters. It is at that time that painting becomes his most favourite pastime. First, he picks up brushes to simply reproduce a few scenes from masters. Then he discovers Urban Art and Pop Art, and finally begins to experiment with his own artistic creation. This artistic discovery can definitely be seen as one of the sources for inspiration for JFL's particular and unique style, along with Warhol, Rothko, Soulages or even Mode2 and Miss-tik.
A painter with over 10 year experience, JFL remains faithful to his original concept of combining art and modern decoration. Each of his pieces is conceived as a part of a permanent research in styles and materials. What definitively makes him stand out are his spirit of inventivity, his limitless personal imagination, his raw yet warm and structured colours and the sophistication of his work on textures, surfaces and materials.
In JFL's eyes the canvas is a mere support where colours and materials blend and give free rein to his thoughts and emotions. A fan of collage, JFL dedicates a part of his work to the world’s news and experiments on his canvases with press cuttings, photographs, or objects. On the other hand, the mortar, his favourite material, gives to his canvases extremely interesting relief effects and lets him manipulate the paint as a totally new material itself.
With their warm colours, multiple materials and application techniques, JFL’s paintings appeal to both senses of touch and sight. Their uniqueness lays in the painter's mastery of the tools and in their variety (spray paint, POSCA markers, tissue paper, painting knife, newspaper scraps) as well as in inexhaustible curiosity and creativity of the painter. JFL’s paintings, executed as actual “decorative pieces” exist in various sizes (medium, large, very large) and can be displayed in both modern and classical interiors.
